Tethered Sonar
The UAWOS tethered sonar payload is based on the EchoLogger ECT sensor. The payload can be used to survey river bathymetry. Bed elevation is directly computed from the drone position, the known length of the tether and the depth measured by the sonar. Horizontal position is approximated by the known drone position, but can be corrected using the known tilt angles of the sonar. This is particularly relevant in fast flows.
