Doppler Radar
The UAWOS Doppler radar payload is based on the Geolux RSS-2-300W instrument. The Doppler averages flow velocity over a footprint area of a few square meters that increases with flight height. Optimal flight height is around 5 meters above the water surface. Signal to noise ratio strongly depends on the roughness of the water surface and also on the magnitude of the flow velocity. Faster flows can be measured more reliably than slow flows.
The Doppler radar is commercially available from SPH here. Please consult this page for technical details, including data sheets, and to request a quote.
